SIHH 2019 

Limited to 250 watches, this special edition is dedicated to the “Silver Spitfire - The Longest Flight” project. It was developed specially for the two pilots, Steve Boultbee-Brooks and Matt Jones, to assist them in their circumnavigation of the globe in a Spitfire. A simple rotation of the bezel sets the watch to a different time zone. The hour hand, the 24-hour display and the date are likewise adjusted automatically. The 24-hour display takes the form of a rotating disc below the dial, which significantly improves its legibility. The stainless-steel case, black dial and green textile wristband were inspired by the colours found in the Spitfire's cockpit. The IWC-manufactured 82760 calibre developed specially for this watch features Pellaton winding with components made of non-wearing ceramic and has a 60-hour power reserve.

For this watch, and for the first time ever, IWC has produced a case machined from 18-carat hard gold, a special variant of red gold. The sophisticated production process alters the alloy's microstructure, making hard gold significantly harder and around 5 to 10 times more wear-resistant than conventional red gold. The hard gold case and crown also create a beautiful contrast to the blue dial. 

A diver's watch that is water-resistant to a depth of 300 meters (30 bar), with a body made of Carbotech, the innovative material from which the hull of the AC75 by Luna Rossa was made. Its strong personality is underscored by the unidirectional rotating dive time bezel, also made of Carbotech, and the dial, whose special texture holds a fascinating secret: parts of the sails of Luna Rossa can be found here.
